I’m Joey Arnold, and I built Smarter CPAs because I remember exactly how it felt to try to pass this exam with a full-time job.
Every night I’d get home drained, open my review course, and stare at hundreds of hours of lectures and a 2,000-page book — thinking, how does anyone with a real job actually get through all of this? It wasn’t that I couldn’t do the work. It’s that I never knew if I was doing the right work, so I’d burn my few free hours just deciding what to study.
So I stopped trying to cover it all and followed one rule: know exactly what to do each day, do it, and trust the plan. That’s how I passed.
The truth I learned is the one the big courses won’t tell you: most people don’t fail the CPA exam. They quit before they ever take it — worn down by 500 hours of material built for students who have all day to study. I didn’t need more content. I needed less of it, organized better, with a clear path that told me what to do today.
