reviews
The big courses were built for students with all day to study. You don’t have all day.
Here’s the truth no one tells you: most people don’t fail the CPA exam — they quit before they ever take it. Four sections, 500 hours of lectures, 2,000 pages, all crammed around a full-time job. The legacy courses were built for students who study all day, so working candidates fall behind, burn out, and walk away — not because they couldn’t do it, but because the way they were told to study was never survivable. Smarter CPAs is built the other way around: for the hours you actually have, with a plan that tells you exactly what to do with them.
Always know what to study next
No more burning your limited free hours deciding where to start. Open the course, see today’s plan, and go. Most working candidates pass on 15–20 focused hours a week — this makes every one count.
Built for the hours you actually have
We teach only what the exam actually tests and cut the rest, so you’re never drowning in material you don’t need.
Built to pass the first time
The expensive part of this exam isn’t the course — it’s re-taking sections, losing credits, and pushing back the raise a license unlocks. Everything here is built to get you through the first time.
Less content. By design.
Every other course brags about more — more hours, more questions, more pages. But more content is exactly why working candidates fall behind and burn out. Smarter CPAs is built on one idea: teach everything the exam actually tests, and cut everything it doesn’t. We map every lesson to the AICPA Blueprints — the official list of what’s tested — then strip the filler and the rabbit holes. What’s left is the shortest path from where you are to a passing score. Less to wade through. Nothing you need left out. That’s not a lighter course — it’s a sharper one. We call it The Smarter Path.
Everything you need to pass — built to fit around your job.
One clear system you can run in the pockets of time you actually have: a lecture before work, a set of MCQs on your lunch break, a simulation on Saturday — with a plan that tells you which to do when, so nothing slips through the cracks.

Founder-led — built by someone who did it the hard way
I’m Joey Arnold, and I built Smarter CPAs because I remember exactly how it felt to try to pass this exam with a full-time job. Every night I’d get home drained, open my review course, and stare at hundreds of hours of lectures and a 2,000-page book, thinking: How does anyone with a real job actually get through all of this?
It wasn’t that I couldn’t do the work — I never knew if I was doing the right work, so I’d burn my few free hours just deciding what to study. [Optional, if true: I failed [SECTION] the first time, not because I didn’t get it, but because I was drowning trying to do everything.] So I stopped trying to cover it all and followed one rule: know exactly what to do each day, do it, and trust the plan. That’s how I passed — [optional: all [X] sections in [X months], nights and weekends].
Smarter CPAs is the course I wish I’d had. No guessing, no 500-hour mountain — just a clear path that tells you what to study today, so you can close the laptop knowing you did enough. When you study here, you’re not a number. I’ve been exactly where you are, and I’m invested in you passing.
Everything the big courses give you — minus the bloat built for full-time students.
A fair, factual look at how Smarter CPAs stacks up against a typical legacy review course.

The Smarter CPAs Study Game Plan
The exact system for passing each CPA section around a full-time job — what to study first, how to build a weekly rhythm, and the habits that actually move your score.
1 Pick your section order
On today’s CPA Exam you sit for three Core sections — AUD, FAR, and REG — plus one Discipline of your choice: BAR, ISC, or TCP. There’s no required order, but a smart sequence can save you weeks.
- Start with FAR. It’s the largest, most conceptual Core section — clearing it early builds momentum and confidence.
- Then AUD, which leans on the financial-accounting foundation you just built in FAR.
- Then REG. Tax and business law mostly stand on their own — a clean reset section.
- Match your Discipline to a Core you just finished: TCP after REG (tax), BAR after FAR (technical accounting & analysis), or ISC after AUD (IT & controls).
2 Build a weekly rhythm you can keep
Most working candidates pass on 15–20 focused hours a week. Consistency beats heroic weekends.
That next-day blind review — redoing yesterday’s missed questions from scratch — is where the score actually comes from.
3 A section in about six weeks
- Weeks 1–4 — Learn: work through lectures and topic-by-topic MCQs until you’ve seen every topic once.
- Week 5 — Apply: shift to Task-Based Simulations and hammer your weakest areas.
- Week 6 — Simulate: take full-length practice exams under real timing, then do a final targeted review.
4 The five habits that move your score
- Recall, don’t re-watch. Close the notes and explain the concept out loud before moving on.
- Study your wrong answers. Read every explanation until you know why the right answer is right — and why the others aren’t.
- Redo missed MCQs until they’re automatic.
- Simulate early. Take a timed testlet in week 2, not week 6 — get comfortable with the clock.
- Protect the day before. Light review, then rest. A tired brain scores lower.
5 Traps to avoid
- Re-watching lectures because it feels productive — testing yourself is what actually works.
- Saving new questions while ignoring the ones you already missed.
- Waiting to book your exam “when you feel ready.” Set the date first; it forces the plan.
- Skipping simulations because they’re uncomfortable. That discomfort is the point.
